Carolina Pupo

From a young age I have always had the utopia of changing the world we live in, or at least making it less unequal. I saw in the Geography area the basis for the first steps towards the construction of this dream. . Since I finished undergraduate studies, I have developed research that seeks to understand poverty in peripheral countries and I have seen in local currencies an opportunity to build an economy based on solidary and trusting relationships, having as background the global interests involved in the creation of these currencies in specific sites. I maintained the construction of my academic formation in the Department of Graduate Studies in Human Geography at the University of São Paulo in the master's and now in the doctorate, seeking to carry out a geographic analysis of this new phenomenon that gains capillarity through the Brazilian territory: community banks and local currencies .
